Tinubu Mocks Atiku Over Privatization Record During Political Remarks
President Bola Tinubu has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, referencing his role in Nigeria’s past privatization programme.
Tinubu made the remarks while questioning the outcomes of key privatization decisions made during Atiku’s tenure, including industrial projects such as Ajaokuta Steel Company, which has remained largely inactive for years.
He said
No one among them (coalition leaders) is without history. The head (Atiku) was the chairman of the privatization council of Nigeria at one time. They privatized the steel industry in Delta, is it working today? They privatized Ajaokuta, is it working today? They privatized another man’s political party; that one says no.”
