Taiwo Oyedele Rules Out Fuel Subsidy Return, Links Energy Shift to Global Market Opportunities
Chairman of Nigeria’s Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has ruled out any return of fuel subsidy, saying it would distort the economy.
He also dismissed the possibility of introducing price controls, arguing that government policy should continue to support market-driven pricing.
He said
We will not bring back fuel subsidy because it creates distortions for the economy, and we won’t introduce price control because we believe in the market… the situation in Iran presents new opportunities for us as the world looks to diversify sources of energy and invest in new markets”,
