
They sent transport money, so I believed it was a real job” — UNIJOS graduate recounts kidnap ordeal 💔
A graduate of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), John Arum, has shared his traumatic experience after being kidnapped while traveling to Kaduna on 11 April 2026.
He explained that the attackers deceived him with a fake job offer:
“They kept calling me, asking me to come and work for them. They even sent transport money, so I believed it was a real job.”
According to him, the kidnappers:
Forced him to kneel and searched him thoroughly
Confiscated his phone, tools, bag, and personal belongings. Gave him strange clothing and a face mask to wear.Moved him from Kaduna State through Giwa LGA into Zamfara State via forests and remote motorcycle routes
The victim said the journey lasted several hours through isolated areas before reaching the kidnappers’ hideout.
