
EFCC Arrests Aviation Security Officer, Two Others Over Alleged ₦4.4bn Gold Smuggling Plot
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested an aviation security officer and two other individuals over their alleged involvement in an attempt to smuggle gold valued at about ₦4.4 billion.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended following intelligence-led operations linked to the attempted illegal movement of the precious metal.
According to the EFCC, the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on economic and financial crimes, including illegal trade and smuggling activities.
The agency said investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the operation and identify any additional collaborators.
