Men Conditioned Women to Feel Entitled” – Okey Bakassi Sparks Debate
Popular comedian and actor Okey Bakassi has stirred reactions online after sharing his thoughts on what he describes as “fine girl privilege” and its impact on women’s mindset.
According to him:
“We men are guilty of the kind of women our women have become, because, unknown to us, in this part of the world we have conditioned women to believe that once they are beautiful, they will get anything.
It is common to see a fine girl and say, ‘Fine girl, why you dey trek? Enter motor, I’ll drop you.’ ‘Fine girl like you is not supposed to trek.’ ‘Fine girl like you, somebody is supposed to carry you, or book you ride.’
‘Who make you dey trek like this?’ ‘Why is a fine girl on Okada? Stop there and enter my car please,’ just because you want to chase her.
So every day, we sing it into a fine girl’s ear, ‘You’re not supposed to suffer, you’re supposed to be pampered.’ Fine girls have now assumed that, okay, since you people say I’m too fine to work, then I’m not working.
Now we are complaining that fine girls are too entitled. Na we condition them like that. We are to be blamed about it…”
