Man alleges police brutality, kidnapping and extortion during incident in South-East Nigeria
A man has recounted a harrowing experience alleging misconduct by officers of the Nigeria Police Force in the South-East region of Nigeria.
According to his account, the incident occurred after he returned from Ukraine amid the ongoing war and was driving in Imo State when he was allegedly stopped by police officers around Control Bus Stop.
According to him
What The Nigerian Police Are Doing In The South East Is Worse Than That Video Of The ASP Nuhu Usman Shooting That Boy In Broad Daylight In Delta State. I’m a Living Witness. When I Came Back To Nigeria From Ukraine Because Of The War, I Returned To Imo State. One Day, While I Was Driving At Control Bus Stop, Police Officers Stopped Me And Carried Me All The Way From Imo To Anambra State.
“They Took Me Into a Bush And Threatened That I Should Transfer ₦500K Or They Would Kill Me. They Beat Me Severely And Even Showed Me Several Pictures Of People They Claimed They Had K!lled On Their Phone, Saying They Would K!ll Me Too And Nothing Will Happen. I Was So Scared For My Life That Day Because They Could Have Killed Me, Dumped My Body In The Bush, Transferred All The Money In My Account, And Even Stolen My Car. So I Paid Them Before They Let Me Go.”
