Isaac Fayose Declares ADC’s “Fall,” Backs Obi–Kwankwaso Alliance
Nigerian social commentator Isaac Fayose has reacted strongly to the reported exit of Peter Obi from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as the “rise and fall” of the party.
In a video circulating online, Fayose claimed that efforts were made to persuade former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and party executives led by David Mark to zone the presidency to the South, arguing that it was the region’s turn. According to him, failure to do so made continued participation in the party pointless.
He said
“We tried to beg the former Vice President, Atiku, and David Mark-led excos to zone the presidency to the South. That’s the best way to go because it is the turn of the South. You cannot put Atiku when it is supposed to be a Southerner.So if you cannot zone it, there is no point being in that party. I am happy to announce the rise and the fall of the ADC. Now we are carrying our glory and our power to a new party.
The ticket is okay for me — Obi-Kwankwaso. They already look like a rescue team. They already look like the rescue face.So bye-bye, ADC. Now ADC will know that it is not about their party, it is about the eagle that entered their party. And now that the eagle is out, that is the rise and fall of ADC.Obi-Kwankwaso, there is no going back. It is okay for me. So open your eyes for the new party so we can rescue Nigeria back…”
