FG Introduces Mandatory Drug Testing for Secondary School Students Nationwide
The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a new policy mandating drug testing for secondary school students across the country.
According to the guideline, all new students and learners will be subjected to drug tests and other approved screening measures at the point of entry into schools and learning centres. This process is to be carried out in collaboration with approved federal and state health facilities, following established procedures.
The statement reads
all new students/learners shall be subjected to dr¥g tests and other measures approved by the schools/learning centres at the point of entry,” and that this must be done “in collaboration with approved federal/state health facilities and procedures.”
In addition to entry screening, schools are expected to conduct periodic and random dr¥g tests at least once every academic session. The guideline also notes that “all students/learners shall undergo periodic drug tests as recommended by appropriate authorities.” See less
