Spyro Calls Out Religious Leaders Over Silence on Nigeria’s Security Crisis
Nigerian singer Spyro has criticised religious institutions and prominent faith leaders for what he described as their silence amid the country’s worsening insecurity and national challenges.
In a strongly worded video, the singer questioned the relevance of sermons and religious gatherings that do not address the current realities facing Nigerians, particularly the ongoing security concerns.
“Why am I going to church where another message aside from what is happening in the country is being preached?” he asked.
Extending his criticism to the Muslim community, he also challenged Islamic clerics, asking, “Where are your sheikhs? Where are the alfas?”
This calls for a state of emergency… When are we going to say enough is enough?” he said.
Spyro concluded by stating that now is not the time for routine religious activities, warning that the country is “on the verge of collapse” if urgent action is not taken.
