Must Unite Traditional, Spiritual Strength to Chase Out Bandits” — Ooni of Ife Calls for Collective Action
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has called for unity among traditional institutions, religious leaders, and citizens to confront insecurity across Nigeria.
Speaking on the rising cases of banditry and kidnapping, the monarch urged a return to cultural values and collective responsibility in tackling criminal activities.
According to him:
“We must bring together our traditional powers, spiritual heritage, and communal values to chase bandits, kidnappers, and all criminal elements out of Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.”
He emphasized that the legacy of ancestors—rooted in justice, peace, and communal harmony—should guide present efforts to restore security.
“We must rise collectively against the menace of banditry and kidnapping. Enough is enough. Our people deserve to live in peace and move freely without fear.”
The Ooni further charged traditional rulers to take greater responsibility in safeguarding their communities while working closely with government and security agencies.
“This is a time for unity. The government alone cannot solve the security challenges facing the nation.”
