
Otti Says Lagos Overpopulated, Urges Growth of Other States
Governor Alex Otti has described Lagos as an overpopulated mega city, stressing the need for other states to develop and absorb some of the pressure currently borne by the commercial hub.
Speaking on urban development and economic expansion, Otti noted that while Lagos has grown into a mega city, its population size has stretched infrastructure and resources. He argued that the solution lies in deliberate growth across other states, which can take on opportunities and challenges that Lagos can no longer effectively manage.
Lagos is a mega city. If you ask me, I would say it is overpopulated, and that is why it is good for other states to begin to grow, so that they can take what Lagos cannot take. And that’s where we come in. We can’t be a mega city in the next 10 years or 15 years, but there are things we can take off Lagos.” He said
