Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has responded to public criticism over her remarks on supporting small-scale traders, clarifying that government interventions extend beyond akara sellers.
Addressing the backlash, she emphasized that various categories of petty traders are beneficiaries of ongoing support initiatives.

“Criticism will not stop me from empowering akara sellers and other women traders. I heard people talking about akara sellers. It is not only akara sellers. We are supporting tomato sellers, maize sellers, vegetable sellers, and many other petty traders.
