“Tinubu Government Is Not Allowing Opposition to Campaign, There Is No Level Playing Ground” — Isaac Fayose
Media personality Isaac Fayose has raised concerns over the 2027 presidential election, claiming that the opposition is being suppressed and denied a level playing field ahead of the poll.
Fayose said the election is drawing closer, but there appears to be little sign of campaign activities because, according to him, opposition parties are allegedly being prevented from campaigning in some parts of the country.
“The 2027 presidential election is close, but it doesn’t look like election campaigns are happening because the Tinubu government is not allowing opposition to campaign. They have suppressed the opposition and there is no level playing ground,” Fayose said.
He cited an alleged incident involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna, as well as what he described as similar situations in Lagos and Benue.
“ADC was tear-gassed in Kaduna. The same thing is happening in Lagos; they’re not allowing any campaigns for the opposition. Same with Benue,” he added.
Fayose expressed concern that the situation could create an unhealthy electoral environment, urging Nigerians to take action to ensure that all political parties have the opportunity to campaign.
“That’s why it doesn’t look like an election is coming, even though it is. This is not normal. We need to do something. Four months to go, there is no sign of the opposition,” he said.
