“Nigerians Are Not the Biggest Scammers” — Seun Kuti
Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has pushed back against the popular narrative that Nigerians and Africans are the biggest scammers globally.
According to him, the scale of major financial fraud cases around the world shows that Nigerians are not in the same league as some of the biggest fraudsters in history.
He said:
“Nigerians are not the biggest scammers. Africans don’t scam at all compared to the global game. Bernie Madoff scammed $65 billion. If you combine all of Nigeria’s national budgets for a year, it wouldn’t even reach $40 billion.”
