Obasanjo laments Nigeria’s declining influence in ECOWAS
Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has expressed concern over the country’s current position in regional diplomacy, saying Nigeria has lost its place in key decision-making platforms.
He criticised the handling of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, noting that the bloc, which took decades of effort to build, had been poorly managed in recent times
According to him
Today, Nigeria is not at the table. Look at the way we have handled ECOWAS. Something that took us 50 years to build, over night, we mishandled it and have virtually destroyed it”
