Ayobami Salami Announces Smartphone-Based Voter Registration
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has unveiled a major shift in Nigeria’s voter registration process, allowing citizens to complete their registration entirely via smartphone.
According to Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner Ayobami Salami, the new system—known as the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) CAP—enables Nigerians to register without physically visiting INEC offices.
“We have now introduced what is called the new continuous voter registration online… Now you don’t need to come to our office for capturing; go to our website, download the new CVR CAP, and do everything, including biometric capturing, on your smartphone,” he stated.
