Senator Athan Achonu Speaks on Insecurity and Police Infrastructure Support”
Senator Athan Achonu has raised concerns about insecurity in parts of Imo State, alleging unusual foreign involvement in forest-based criminal networks and questioning what he described as suspicious activities in affected areas.
He also claimed that efforts to improve police infrastructure in Okigwe were allegedly hindered, stating that he had attempted to fund the renovation of police stations and support security operations, including vehicle repairs.
He said
“I investigated it. I was wondering why Chinese were living in the forest, foreigners relating with the b@ndits, while villagers were running away and being kidn@pped,” he said. “I investigated to find out what was happening. It’s the solid mineral cartel that ruined Congo. They’re here.” Please allow me to fix the police stations in Okigwe. I brought my money. I gave Innoson ₦100 million to fix police APCs on their behalf, but the government blocked it.
