“We Don’t Have Absolute Control Over Unbranded Palm Oil, Fufu Sold In Open Markets” — NAFDAC
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has said it does not have absolute control over unbranded palm oil and fufu sold in open markets.
NAFDAC also stressed that counterfeiters operate within communities and business premises, urging the public to be vigilant about products they purchase.
“Counterfeiters are not ghosts; they exist within our communities, neighbourhoods, and business premises.”
The agency further criticised what it described as reliance on emotionally driven and potentially commercially motivated social media narratives, saying scientific evaluation would strengthen claims made about the safety or quality of products.
“The strength of the publication could have been enhanced by a proper scientific evaluation rather than relying primarily on emotionally driven and perhaps commercially motivated social media narratives.”
