“I Wrote a Song for Beyoncé’s Lion King Album, But It Was Rejected” — Adekunle Gold
Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has revealed that he wrote a song for Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift album, but the song was ultimately rejected.
The singer said he was in Los Angeles when his manager informed him that the song had not been selected. According to him, he had recently lost his father at the time, which made the songwriting process deeply personal.
“I was in LA when my manager called me. I had just lost my dad, so I wrote the song from a very personal place,” Adekunle Gold said.
He added that, deep down, he had hoped the song would be rejected because he wanted to eventually release it himself.
