I Will Convene ECOWAS Leaders to Revive the ECOMOG Model” — Atiku Abubakar
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to convene leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to revive the ECOMOG model used in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Côte d’Ivoire.
Atiku condemned the Tinubu administration’s handling of the withdrawal of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso from ECOWAS, arguing that the countries remain connected by shared history and identity.
He said:
“I will convene ECOWAS leaders to revive ECOMOG model used in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Côte d’Ivoire. Nigeria’s handling of Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso exit under Tinubu is condemnable. We are one people, and I promised to bring them back into ECOWAS.”
