Shoprite Set to Return to Nigeria With New Business Model, Moving Away From Large Shopping Malls
Retail giant Shoprite is reportedly planning a return to Nigeria with a new business strategy focused on smaller, standalone stores in residential neighbourhoods rather than its traditional large shopping malls.
According to Adekunle Adebiyi, Executive Director of MBO Capital Management Ltd., the retailer is expected to adopt a model similar to that of Bokku and Jendol, bringing everyday shopping closer to consumers.
The proposed strategy would allow Shoprite to serve customers within their neighbourhoods while potentially reducing the operational costs associated with running large shopping centres.
