Who Is Benefiting From These Borrowings?” — Dino Melaye Criticizes Nigeria’s Debt Profile
Former senator Dino Melaye has raised concerns over Nigeria’s rising debt levels, comparing borrowing patterns under different administrations and questioning the use of funds.
He stated that during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, significant borrowing occurred despite the existence of fuel subsidy.
According to him
“With subsidy, Buhari borrowed 87 trillion in 8 years,”Without subsidy, Tinubu so far in 3 years has borrowed 157 trillion… Somebody should show me what we’re doing with that money,”This is the first time in the history of the world where a 13 billion dollar infrastructure project was awarded without bidding, to his Lebanese friend.
