Another big step in job creation, youth empowerment and skills development in Nigeria.
Dangote Cement Plc has inducted 100 newly trained engineers and other professionals into its workforce after the successful completion of its Graduate Trainee Programme.
The move highlights the company’s focus on job creation, skills development and strengthening local expertise in Nigeria.
The new employees were drawn from engineering, finance, IT and other related fields. They completed an intensive 18 month training programme that combined classroom learning and hands on practical experience. The training was carried out at the Dangote Academy, the company’s four cement plants in Nigeria and its head office.
According to the company, the Graduate Trainee Programme is designed to prepare young professionals for future leadership roles through cross functional exposure, mentorship, executive guidance and real project execution.
During the programme, the trainees were posted to different Dangote Cement plants and operational sites, where they gained industry experience under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Dangote Cement also disclosed that some of the trainees have already been absorbed into its cement operations in Nigeria and other African countries.
The company said the induction reflects its long standing commitment to creating employment opportunities and building strong indigenous technical capacity across its operations.
In addition to the induction, Dangote Cement honoured outstanding staff with Long Service Awards and Hall of Fame Employee Awards. The recipients, who have each spent at least five years with the company, received monetary rewards in recognition of their dedication and commitment to the company’s core values.
Speaking at the ceremony in Lagos, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Cement, Arvind Pathak, said the event was organised to celebrate employees who have contributed greatly to the company’s growth.
He praised staff for remaining resilient despite economic challenges, noting that the company recorded strong performance in 2025.
Pathak said Dangote Cement remains Africa’s leading cement producer and is working towards a production capacity of 90 million metric tonnes per year across the continent by 2030.
He added that the company has helped end Nigeria’s dependence on imported cement and has turned the country into a net exporter to neighbouring nations.
Also speaking, the Acting Group Human Resources Officer, Ahmed Gobir, described the Graduate Trainee Programme as a strategic initiative aimed at equipping young graduates with global standard skills.
He said Dangote Cement is committed to empowering young Nigerians to build successful careers and contribute to national development.
Four graduate trainees were specially recognised for outstanding performance during the programme. They are Engr. Mary Nnana, Engr. Ahmad Abdullahi, Engr. Rufai Ahmed and Engr. Ebenezer Afonja.
The awardees were praised for their strong technical contributions, including improving operational systems, supporting plant optimisation projects and playing key roles in the installation and commissioning of critical systems at the Obajana and Okpella plants.
