Burkina Faso’s Government Reportedly Issued Strong Warning To Nigeria
Burkina Faso’s government stated that it will respond forcefully if Nigeria attempts to free its detained soldiers through military action.
According to the statement attributed to Burkina Faso’s leader, Ibrahim Traoré, any violation of the country’s sovereignty would be met with decisive retaliation. He stressed that Burkina Faso respects human rights and international law and will not tolerate what it considers an illegal invasion of its territory.
Traoré further claimed he has consulted allied nations, who have pledged their support, though he did not name them. Speculation online suggests countries such as Russia, China, and North Korea.
He added that despite being a smaller nation, Burkina Faso will not be intimidated, warning that any aircraft entering its airspace without proper clearance would be neutralized immediately.
The statement concludes that any attempt to forcibly rescue Nigerian soldiers allegedly detained for illegal entry would be met with overwhelming force.
