I Warned Obi Over Security Risks in Edo — Okpebholo
Monday Okpebholo has defended his remarks regarding the visit of Peter Obi to Edo State, stating that his intention was to ensure the former presidential candidate’s safety.
Okpebholo said he had advised Obi to notify him ahead of any future visits due to what he described as a hostile political environment in the state. He alleged that during Obi’s previous visit, violence broke out among individuals he claimed were mobilized with money, leading to fatalities.
According to him
“I only told Obi, please next time whenever you are coming, because of the hostile environment in Edo State… the last time you came, people died because money was given to thugs. On the point of sharing they started killing themselves,” he said.
He added that offering security support was a protective measure, not an act of wrongdoing.
“So, when you want to come, let me know so that I will provide you with security. Where did I go wrong? I am trying to protect him.
