South-West May Be Overrun by Bandits Soon” — Sowore Warns Over Rising Insecurity
Activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has raised concerns over worsening insecurity in Nigeria, warning that armed groups could expand further into the South-West if urgent action is not taken.
In a statement circulating online, he expressed fear over what he described as increasing threats across multiple regions.
“I am afraid, these guys are going to overrun the South West very soon. Also, don’t forget that even Abuja is surrounded by bandits. Kogi is gone, Kwara is gone,” he said.
He also criticized responses to insecurity in some states, referencing a situation in Oyo State involving teachers’ safety concerns.
“The NUT in Oyo State, instead of going on strike immediately to protect their teachers who are in captivity, they called for prayers,” he added.
Sowore further accused the federal government of failing to adequately address the security situation, saying insecurity could worsen if not urgently tackled.
“Very soon the FG will declare a 40-days fasting and prayer to handle insecurity. They know what they are doing,” he said.
