
Tinubu Set To Depart for Turkey On State Visit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today, Monday, January 26, for an official state visit to the Republic of Turkey, as Nigeria moves to deepen bilateral ties with the Eurasian nation.
The visit is expected to strengthen existing diplomatic relations and expand cooperation in key sectors including security, education, innovation, aviation, social development, and trade. President Tinubu will hold high-level talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, alongside meetings between senior officials of both countries.
According to the presidency, discussions will focus on strategic political engagement, economic collaboration, investment opportunities, and shared priorities in finance, communications, and infrastructure. Several memoranda of understanding are also expected to be signed, covering areas such as scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, defence, media, and protocol.
The state visit builds on long-standing Nigeria–Turkey relations and follows President Erdoğan’s previous official engagement with Nigeria, reinforcing Ankara and Abuja’s commitment to sustained diplomatic and economic partnership.
