ADC Demands INEC Chairman’s Resignation Over Alleged Pro-Tinubu Tweet.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded the resignation of INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan over alleged 2023 social media posts showing support for President Bola Tinubu.
ADC claims the posts—and attempts to delete them—raise serious concerns about INEC’s neutrality and transparency, accusing the ruling party of trying to weaken opposition ahead of the 2027 elections. Amupitan denied owning the account or making the posts, insisting he is politically neutral.
However, the ADC dismissed his explanation as unconvincing, arguing that the controversy undermines public trust in the electoral body. The party insists he must resign immediately and plans to escalate the issue by updating petitions to relevant institutions, including international bodies and the Nigerian Bar Association.
